HOW TO TREAT EACH TYPE?
For many of us hair is like a blank canvas, and each client comes with a different type of hair, whether virgin or dyed, that requires customized care. As stylists, our job is not only to beautify, but also to educate the client about the importance of keeping their hair healthy after coloring processes.
What happens when the hair is dyed?
The coloring process alters both the internal and external structure of the hair. An alkaline agent opens the hair cuticle, allowing hydrogen peroxide to act by lightening the natural melanin pigments. This process facilitates the incorporation of new pigments, resulting in the desired tone. But, as it is a transformation of the hair, it will require special care to stay healthy and vibrant.
Virgin Hair: Essential care
Virgin hair is hair that has not been subjected to any chemical process that alters its natural structure. To keep it healthy, it is key to protect it from external aggression through deep hydration. This is where using products with ingredients such as natural oils, collagen and keratin can come into play to preserve its integrity and prevent deterioration.
Depending on the type of virgin hair, the choice of products also varies. Thick hair tends to benefit from products that make it more manageable and elastic, while fine hair requires care that adds density and reinforces its structure. It is essential to select specific products, such as shampoo and conditioner designed for the unique needs of each hair type.
Colored Hair: Keeping shine and vitality
Dyeing your hair does not necessarily damage it if quality products are used. However, it is essential to apply appropriate treatment to prolong its shine, maintain the tone and reinforce hair health. An alternative to applying permanent color on previously dyed hair is the use of semi-permanent coloring on mid-lengths and ends, and permanent color on the roots or hair growth.
Advances in coloring, such as our LANPLEX system, allow the internal bonds of the hair to be protected and reinforced during the process, making the hair fiber more resistant. PLEX systems have revolutionized the way we treat colored hair, offering healthier and long-lasting results.
Tips for taking care of dyed hair
Colored hair needs products that contain antioxidants and UV filters to protect it from environmental damage and prevent color oxidation.
